Hydro Tec’s New 157-Foot Superyacht Has an Infinity Pool and a Jacuzzi – Robb Report

Hydro Tec’s newest superyacht concept is an ode to ocean discovery. With a name that literally means “to search” in Japanese, Sagasu is said to embody all the characteristics of an explorer yacht while remaining under 500 GT.

The 157-footer was developed as part of a new strategic partnership between Italy’s Hydro Tec and Hong Kong’s ISEO Yachting that aims to bolster business in Asia. As such, Sagasu has a “strongly international character” with “Asian tones,” according to the design team. The vessel itself doesn’t appear to be particularly Eastern in terms of style, but it does cater to the Asian market.

“I have used all my years in Asia working with and listening to clients and put it into this project,” Iseo Yachting cofounder Adam Blackmore said in a statement. “Having gone through the same process, a client would when designing their own yacht was an unbelievable experience.”

Spearheaded by Hydro Tec’s design director Richard Partington, the exterior is characterized by sinuous lines, an imposing superstructure, and a sharp, pointed bow. The studio says Sagasu also has “elements of robustness,” but didn’t go into specifics. If the yacht is to be a true explorer, one would expect it to be equipped with an ice-class steel hull and gutsy propulsion system at the bare minimum.

One distinctive design feature of Sagasu is the way the windows sit flush on the hull. The studio says this creates a suspended central island wrapped in glass that guides seafarers along the entire vessel. At the very least, it is a novel way to incorporate glazing.

Sagasu is available with four different layouts, which can be further customized based on the owner’s needs, naturally. In terms of accommodation, the showstopping owner’s suite features floor-to-ceiling windows and a 750-square-foot private terrace with a Jacuzzi, lounge, and outdoor bathroom. In addition, the crew quarters are located on the lower deck to ensure greater guest privacy.

Sagasu offers ample space for entertaining across three decks, too. The aft deck is home to a sprawling beach club with folding terraces, an infinity pool, and plush lounges, while the upper decks and bow are dotted with dining areas and additional alfresco seating. The bow area also sports a large garage with space for a rescue tender and a customized exploration tender. See, we said it was all about ocean discovery.
